ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
This comes as per The Daily Mail, who have claimed that Eustace would be open to returning to Birmingham City but it would take the ownership of the club to backtrack on their decision to part ways with the 44-year-old. The club has also been linked with Nathan Jones and Tony Mowbray in a list of over 20 managers. Steve Spooner is currently the interim boss of the side and says that the players are eager to get underway.

WHAT SPOONER SAID
"What I've seen out on the pitch, and that is only what I'm basing my evidence on, the first session was sharp," he said. "They were in good spirits and we've got to keep that going and take that into Saturday as well.
"I think they are a good group. They've got to come together and they've got to be unified now, press on and start getting some results for this football club."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
As per the report, the other names on the list include Frank Lampard, who previously in the Championship led Derby County to the play-off final in 2019. However, it seems unlikely that the Chelsea legend would take a step down to the Championship again.

WHAT NEXT FOR BIRMINGHAM?
The club led by Spooner will take on Hull City on Saturday, January 6 in the third round of the FA Cup as they look to bounce back from the dismal run of form under Rooney and renew their hopes of a run to the latter stages of the oldest football tournament in the world.
