ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Palmer opened the scoring against Bosnia & Herzegovina for Gareth Southgate's side at the hour mark after England received a penalty for a pull on Ezri Konsa during a corner routine. Palmer was calm and composed from the spot as he has so often been for Chelsea and set England on their way to a 3-0 victory. The goal was his first for England after having been given three appearances by Southgate in the lead-up to the Euros.

WHAT KANE SAID
When asked about Palmer's form, Bayern Munich striker Kane said: "An unbelievable season. It’s never easy moving clubs as well, so to do what he’s done in his first season at Chelsea is a credit to him and obviously the team he was in as well.
"We’re very happy to have him and I’m delighted he got his goal there today. Of course, we’re going to need all of our players chipping in with important goals throughout the tournament in a couple of weeks so the more people feeling good, the better."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Palmer came up through the ranks at Manchester City and played for Pep Guardiola's first team as a fringe player for two years before he decided that a permanent move to Chelsea would be the best thing for the progression of his career. His decision paid off dividends as he became the main man for Mauricio Pochettino's struggling Chelsea side, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in 35 league appearances last season.

WHAT NEXT FOR PALMER?
Palmer's superb form has meant that he has earned the right to be called up by England for the upcoming Euros in Germany, and he may even be a starter for the Three Lions depending on Southgate's preferences.
