ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Having taken over as boss in 1986, Ferguson did not win a trophy until 1990 at Old Trafford, but Amorim claims that situation is not possible to replicate these days. The United manager insists the pressure is totally different and understands he will not get that long to turn the club around now.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
United are almost certain to suffer their first ever bottom-half Premier League finish this season, sitting seven points behind 10th-place Bournemouth with just eight matches to play. They must take 22 points from those matches to avoid it being their worst ever campaign in terms of points accrued.

WHAT AMORIM SAID
Amorim said: "I think the focus must be how to improve our team in every aspect. The Premier League is so difficult, I have a lot of people saying Sir Alex Ferguson took three or four years to win something, it is not possible these days because you have to give three interviews before every game so the pressure is so much different. We are Man Utd. There are a lot of good things. No matter the pressure, we have to be there with the big ones."

WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?
Amorim could still win silverware in his first season, with United set to take on Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals over the next couple of weeks. They must first navigate Sunday's Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola's City.
